Hopefully, every teacher feels the need to inspire their students. This is not always possible. It is not always easy to give students the space to explore topics that are personally meaningful to them. Finding a balance between what is considered socially important and what students find personally meaningful is one of the problems that teachers who want to create inspiring education struggle with. Some aspects that you can work on as a teacher are:
When most people think of math, they think of doing rows of sums and memorizing incomprehensible rules. That is a type of school math that has little to do with real math. School math today is therefore different from school math in 1950. Mathematics is much more about asking the right questions, devising an approach to solve a problem, or modeling a situation.
